Itinerary n°2

Sea discovery with all blue shades

Time : 1h45mn(to go)

Distance : 4 km

Itinerary : Citadel’s Gate, maritim “ Croisette”, Punta beach, port, Palangrer’s beach, Poncella’s tip, lighthouse, Canyelles Petites beach, Almadrava beach.

Option : Castle of Trinitat Mirador Puig Rom wisigoth forteress

You walk from Citadel’s gate on the sea-side, to the north direction. You walk on Maritim “Croisette”,  on Punta beach, on Palangrer’s beach. It’s not fizzy. There’s a little slope leading up to the lighthouse. After Rosas’ lighthouse, (built in 1864 in the reign of Isabelle II, you’ll go down the stairs perfectly signed up which go on a marked out way between sea and stones. There’s a lot of stairs going to the road, but the way is now finished, (so you can avoid to take stairs as they say on www.roses.net ), to go to Canyelles Petites, a goldy sand beach with clear water. After going through the beach, you’ll go up the stairs to take a way on the coast, passing by Bonifaci rocky inlet and riding after 2 kilometers to Almadrava beach, a goldy sand area of 450 meters long, with blue turquoise water.

This walk is very easy, you’ve just some stairs, so don’t take a bike or a push-chair. Landscapes are exceptional. The first part of this way is in concrete and after Canyelles Petities, it’s ground. You should avoid to walk here with violent wind. Neverless, in summer, I recommend to go at 9-10 a.m in the morning. So, you don’t have sun and you’ve it in the back for return. If you need some water and sandwiches, you can buy some on the 2 beaches. If you want to come back by bus, consult hours for Gua-gua.

Exceptional visit : I find it’s a charming long way with an important difference in height. I propose you to go to the Mirador, during a walk I called Mirador. When you’ll return, after Canyelles, you’ll go down
Antoni Canals Street on the right. After the first bend, at 100 meters on the right, you can see Trinitat Castle ruins. If you continue on this road, you arrive on Mirador, where you’ve a magnifical view on Rosas’ Bay. On Mirador East, you’ve the pieces of the wisigoth village, a forteress built on VIIth century to protect themselves

Oliviers, Mas Oliva

Itinerary : Citadel’s gate, c/ Madrid, Plaça Pep Ventura, Mas Oliva road, c/ Oslo, c/Brusselles, c/Amsterdam, Grand Pin, Olivier millenaire.

You can start this walk directly from Oliva Mas and park your car Carrer Brusselles. Don’t forget to watch the landscapeon the right, Carrer Oslo. It’s so nice. The beginning of the ground way is not easy to find. I think it’s the continuation of Carrer Amsterdam.

I found it after some times but if you can’t find it, you’ll do a nice walk in garrigue.

This walk, where you can discover giant trees of Rosas begins in Mas Oliva. In first, you’ll take Oslo Street, then Brusselles Street. Go up to Amsterdam Street after crossing Viena Street. So, you’ll turn on the right and continue straight ahead by a ground waywich (after 50 m), rides in a junction. After 30 mn walk, the way on the left rides you in  “Grand Pin”, the highest of Catalonya. It’s so large than 3 persons are not enough to turn around it. However, if you choose to go straight ahead, direction Mas de L’Alseda, you’ve to walk than 25 mn to contemplate the “Olivier millenaire””, a symbol for the town.

The Mirador

This walk will ride you in the high of the town. You’ll have an extraordinary view of Rosas? This walk is 5 km long. You’ve just a little descent, then you go up to the culmination point of Rosas. Then, you go down all the time. The walk is in round. You always turn on left except to go to the mirador. You walk around the little hill. It’s not always sunny, so you can do it in summer. There’s a nice view, nice houses, nice gardens. There’re just few cars. This walk is quiet. Take your camera.

To go there : When you come from the center of town, just after Rosas’ lighthouse, take Antoni Canals Street on the left.

The street arrives in the Trinitat Castle, then turn one time on the right, the other time on the left, then continue. At the next crossroad, turn on the left and take Carrer Joan Margaritt.. The beginning is in the end of  Carrer Joan Margaritt, crossing with Carrer Jeroni Pau. I park my car near “El Pato” house (duck)

Then, go down Carrer Joan Margaritt in dire chon of Carrer Jeroni Pau.After the crossing, take on your left Jeroni Pau street. At the next crossroad, continue on the left in direction of  Carrer Joan Timoneda. At the other next crossroad, turn always on the left in Carrer Pujada al Puig Rom. When you arrive at the peak, take on the right direction  “Vista Panoramica” (the board is in a garden), it’s the lonely road, on the right, Carrer of San Jordi (on picture). It’s the last ascent of the hill. You  arrive in Mirador. There’s a very view.

If  you know  the” Vivace  lettuce “, or”, roucayrolles”, there’s a lot at this site. The  road  makes a  buckle, you arrive on Carrer  Pujada al Puig -Rom, then at the crossroad, continue in turning on the left, it’s the same road which goes down. On the light, you’ve a board  with “Wisigoth ruins”. You can see them from the street or you can walk to see them nearby. You must stay on the same road  crossing with Antoni Canals street that you’ve to take, on the left.

You arrive                .

Then, in the next crossroad, take again on the left to return in Carrer Joan Margaritt. You return in the beginning of the walk.
